Confessional Poet
Sylvia Plath’s works often draw on her personal experiences, and they belong to a poetic trend called confessional poetry. Confessional poetry, a mid-twentieth century poetic trend to treating issues that had not previously been openly discussed in American poetry, is the poetry of the personal or inner feelings about death, trauma, depression and intimate relationships, frequently in an autobiographical manner – all are matters explored by confessional poets.
